Hannah is 3.5. She had the RSV chest virus at 9 months and spent 1 week on oxygen in hospital. 3 months later she caught pneumonia, another week in hospital, she nearly died twice before her 1st birthday. To avoid her getting bronchitis every month during every winter we keep her on 'pulmicort' (cortisone.5mg) with a electric inhaler once a day as a preventative, and it really seems to work. She now gets over colds rather than needing antibiotics (every time) Trouble is, is it stunting her height? It is a possibility, I know that. Is it safe to do it all the time? It can't be, but I don't know what the alternatives are. Has anyone else got a clue? We live in Germany, by the way, which makes it easier (to get treatment) but harder (to discuss alternatives sometimes...). Any help gratefully received. Emma |
