I can't believe I forgot to mention the camomile wash in the nappy rash cure before, I must have been having an off day!!
Take two camomile teabags (You'll find these in the tea/herb tea section of the supermarket)and add cooled hot water, (I make this up in a sports drink bottle available at Toys r us for Ј2, one bottle can last for a few days) a spare baby bottle would do with one tea bag.
I use this cold on a clean cloth to wipe bum instead of water and it is THE MAGIC part of nappy rash cure...especially for thrush. Camomile has special healing qualities and is an antifungal.
I wash bum with it then take a second clean cloth add more then apply and let absorb into the skin for 3 min then touch dry with my drying cloth. It may sound long winded but it works! I then leave bum to air for 7 min (roughly) less if she is not having it and then I use nappy cream or not depending on how sore the bum is...at the moment we are having a lot of teething diarhea so I keep the cream on.....the joys of teething...oh and I have to keep her hydrated...good fun!!!!
I found this information on the net under: http://www.drgreene.com/21_581.html
Chamomile is a mild sedative, suitable for children. May be of use for hyperactive children. Small amounts for colicky babies. It relieves vertigo, allergies, caffeine withdrawal, anxiety, hysteria, stress and hyper-sensitivity, aids digestion, relieves menstrual pain and morning sickness in pregnancy,
speeds healing of skin ulcers, wounds or burns,
treats kidney and bladder problems and gastritis. Rub onto a bee sting or insect bites.
It is antiseptic, antifungal and anti-inflammatory.
A tonic for poor appetite and may be of use in cases of anorexia. Stimulates the immune system. And infusion can be used as a wash for tired eyes, acne, eczema, seborrhoea and sunburn or as a mouthwash. As a poultice, it relieves mastitis. Taken in the early stages, it is effective in the treatment of delirium tremens
In our hous we use it in my diet to induce sleep in colicky babies, hyper 7 year olds who won't/can't sleep and me if I'm getting too stressed out, it feels like a sedative as it makes you feel sleepy.
WARNING, DON'T USE IF YOU HAVE TO DRIVE THAT DAY, AS IT REALLY RELAXES YOU AND MAKES YOU DROWSY. |
