SUMMER CAMPS & COURSES

Summer camps give children of all ages the opportunity to try new activities and sports or develop skills they already have. Camps vary tremendously, from the residential weeklong variety that offers a range of activities, to a day’s course in a particular sport or art. There are hundreds to choose from across the United Kingdom, many of which are listed in the following directories:

You may wish to enrol your child in a summer camp abroad. The most popular destination is America, where far more children attend summer camp. Many of the major camps are listed on the Kids’ Camps website. You can search the extensive network of camps by interest or location.

Both the Scouts and the Guides run camps for the different age groups of their organisations. Your child’s unit will be able to inform you of up-and-coming camp arrangements.

For more information about what’s going on in your area, visit your Local Authority’s website. It can provide details on activities, attractions and services available to you and your family.

ACTIVITY HOLIDAYS

From the Sunday Telegraph, 'BEFORE YOU GO, THE ESSENTIAL CHECKLIST' provides excellent information and links on finding the best and safest activity holidays for your child.
