TIGERCHILD HELP

We will be developing this section over the coming weeks as we get to know more about the information you need to help you use our site.

JOINING TIGERCHILD (REGISTRATION)

You do not have to join Tigerchild but you do have to be a registered member to post a message on our message boards and to see some of our health information, including our A-Z of illnesses and conditions. Joining involves no more than giving us your name, e-mail address and postcode and accepting our terms and conditions. If you would like to register now please click here.

FORGOTTEN PASSWORD

When you register you will be asked to select a password. If you forget your password please e-mail us at lostpassword and we will send your password back to you.  

LOG IN

When you log in you will be offered the option to enable us to use cookies to subsequently identify you when you visit the site. If you choose not to do so or if your browser’s default security setting does not permit you to accept cookies then each time you visit the site you will need to log in to enable you to see some of our health information and to post messages on our message board. Logging in involves entering your e-mail address and password.

COOKIES

Cookies enable us to recognise you when you enter our site which means that you don’t have to log in each time. To enable cookies to work, the first time you log in after registration you will need to tick the check box telling us to remember you.

LINK NOT WORKING

We try hard to ensure that all the links within our site are working. However, links change all the time, if you find a link that does not work please let us know at links . It will help us to make sure that the site is always working efficiently.

Structure of the Message Boards

Our message boards are divided into sections, each of which is further divided into topics. You can add messages to existing topics or create new topics. Within each topic you can choose to reply to specific messages,

Reading the Message Boards

Anyone visiting Tigerchild can read any of the discussions on our message boards simply by selecting the subject and topic you are interested in.

Contributing to Message Boards

To post a message you will need to be a member of Tigerchild. (If you are not a member you can join here. and if you are a member but have not enabled your cookies (see above) you will need to have logged onto the site. Select the discussion you wish to participate in and click on the ‘Post A New Message’ button within a message board or the ‘Post Reply’ button below a specific message.

The first time you participate in one of our message boards you will be asked to provide a nickname which will be the name which appears next to your message on the message board.

Starting a New Discussion Topic

If you wish to start a new discussion topic you can click on the ‘Create New Section’ button.

Searching the Message Boards

If you want to locate a discussion on one of our message boards, or in our archives, you can search by clicking on the search mechanism at the bottom of the list of message boards.

SEARCHING THE SITE

The site offers two search formats:

Quick search

To search the whole site you can use the quick search. Put your search words in the box but remember that if you use more than one word the search engine will search each separate word as well as the whole phrase. So ‘school inspections’ would search on ‘school inspections’, ‘school’ and ‘inspections’. To refine your search use the advanced search.

Advanced Search

The advanced search has additional features to make your search more specific.

Exact words/any words – If you select any words it will search as above. Exact words will search on a phrase.

Results to display allows you to decide how many search results you would like to display.

By selecting a ‘section’ you can decide which part of the site you would like to search.
