Many thanks all for your replies. No Emily, he is aggressive with me aswell. I too have found that being strict and disciplining him makes matters worse. We have recently had a development assessment with him, at that, although unable to complete all the tests (due to his lack of co-operation) the doctor believed him to be perfectly normal. They suggested that his bad behaviour had worsened as he was being 'rewarded' with too much attention for it. They suggested we ignore as much of it as possible dnd give him no reaction. Obviously this is difficult when he is hurting other children at nursery. There they will now be endeavouring to remove him from the situation. I find it very upsetting when he is violent towards me; his temper is so bad. When out, other parents stare at us with disbelief. It makes me feel like a weak and useless parent - unable to control my son. It is very hard. My health visitor has put us forward for an appointment with a child psychologist but we have had a letter to say that the waiting list is 28 weeks! |
