Dear Tigerchild Member We have been very busy throughout September researching new subjects which we hope will be of interest to you. Thank you for all your e-mails - your feedback is very useful and gives us excellent guidance on which topics to cover next. STORIES YOU MAY HAVE MISSED To coincide with the beginning of the new school year, we published two features intended to prepare you for the weeks ahead. The Lowdown focused on the practicalities of gearing up for the return to school with suggestions for help with sleep routines, homework, out of school activities and suppliers of school kit. Health Essentials looked at the most common health problems that parents of schoolchildren are likely to encounter, from head lice and tooth decay to measles and ingrown toenails. HEALTH AND WELLBEING Our paediatrician, Dr. Catherine Gant, has contributed a number of new topics to the A-Z of childhood conditions , which forms a major part of our Health section. They include autism , cleft lip and palate , kidney abnormalities in babies , leukaemia , flat feet , toe walking and an update of meningitis . Each one takes you through the clinical signs and diagnosis of the condition, explaining the treatment options and offering links to sources of further information. Dr. Gant has also compiled a new section on habit disorders which covers a range of actions such as thumb sucking and nail biting, teeth grinding, hair pulling, head banging and stuttering which (often unnecessarily) give parents cause for concern. TAKE IT EASY… If you have not recently visited our shop we suggest that you do soon to remind yourself of all the time and trouble you could be saving yourself. Instead of tramping round the shops you can shop at your leisure for school uniforms and sports kit , children’s clothes for the autumn , books, stationery and art materials , educational and leisure software , not to mention some early browsing for Christmas . We even offer you the chance to buy musical instruments online! And, with Halloween only a matter of weeks away, don’t forget that we have a section of our shop that is dedicated to Parties and Dressing Up . Alternatively, sit back and have a leisurely trawl through our full list of retailers … Don’t miss our forthcoming feature on Halloween or Tigerchild’s ten best Halloween buys, both going up on the home page at the end of this week. And did you see How to Draw on the Net’s Resources, an article about the Tigerchild website which appeared in the Daily Telegraph on 15th September? Finally, please continue to let us know your views – what you like and what else you would like to see – by e-mailing us at feedback . All the best, The team at Tigerchild
